As you might already know, it is important to get a retinal exam and check up every year. Annual eye exams serve as benchmarks through which your ocular health can be accurately assessed, thus allowing us to treat your vision properly. Thanks to modern optometric technology, serious conditions can now be detected and treated long before loss of vision occurs. One common condition, glaucoma, is caused by increased pressure inside the eye. Glaucoma can cause vision loss without symptoms. Glaucoma is painless, and early diagnosis and treatment is critical. At Inglewood Optometric Center, we offer state- of- the- art technology which is critical for preventing vision loss and maintaining your ocular health.
Through the use of state-of-the-art optometric technology, we are able to provide you with a complete cutting-edge optometry service. This allows us to ensure you perfect optometry care every single time you come in , and also detect vision problems before ocular problems can cause permanent vision loss. Whether it is a retinal exam, visual field test, or more, we have the best technology for the evaluation of your ocular health.
The Topcon Retinal Camera is a state-of-the-art instrument that creates a unique, panoramic image of your retina. This provides us with an extremely detailed view of your retina, and allows us to detect eye problems such as glaucoma, retinal tears or detachments, and macular degeneration. This image can also be used to detect medical conditions such as high blood pressure and diabetes. Although the benefits are incredible, the Topcon Retinal test is painless, quick, and easy to complete.
The Slit Lamp Microscope is an instrument that shines a thin beam of light into the eye. It provides a magnified view of the eye in great detail, allowing for the optometrist to view the internal and external parts of your eye in great detail.
The Visual Field Analysis uses the OctOpus 600 by Haag-Streit to check your central vision as well your peripheral vision for signs of eye disorders. Unlike your central vision, your peripheral vision can be affected by many eye disorders without you recognizing it. Because of this, automated visual field tests are excellent for detecting vision loss before you become aware of deteriorating vision. Your pupils are not dilated for this procedure. The test takes approximately 3 minutes for each eye.
The tonometer is a device used to check eye pressure for the diagnosis of glaucoma. At Inglewood Optometric Center, we use the latest technology, including the ICare tonometer. This new instrument allows for an easy, painless, and patient friendly method of measuring intraocular pressure. This quick, safe, and hygienic instrument allows for an accurate measurement without any drops or puff of air.
