Glaucoma

Age-related macular degeneration (AMD)

AMD causes damage in the part of your retina that gives you clear central sight. Advanced AMD can cause profound central vision loss. Your provider checks for the signs of AMD by examining your retina using cutting-edge equipment such as the Topcon retinal camera.

Cataracts

Cataracts occur when your eye lens grows milky or hazy. Advanced cataracts can cause serious vision loss. The team performs a slit lamp exam, Topcon retinal camera exam, and other tests to check for cataracts.

Diabetic retinopathy

Diabetic retinopathy develops when blood vessels in the back of your eye become damaged because of high blood glucose. It’s a leading cause of blindness among diabetics, and at least 40% of people with diabetes have diabetic retinopathy.

Your provider examines your eyes for signs of diabetic retinopathy with equipment such as the Topcon retinal camera.

We will also look for the early signs of other ocular issues, such as keratoconus, during your annual eye exam. Depending on the results of your initial screenings, further testing may be needed for a definitive diagnosis.

Is ocular disease treatable?

Ocular diseases are usually treatable, but not necessarily curable. By far, the most important factor in preserving your eyesight is early diagnosis. Catching an ocular disease early in its development allows the team to slow or halt the progression of the disease effectively.
